Welcome to King Middle School Home of the Lions!

Welcome to King Middle School where we are working to create a safe haven for students in a college bound school culture. Working together with parents, we are confident that we can ensure both the safety of every student and each student’s academic success. Our number one priority will be to continue transforming the "culture" of our school where students are safe, challenged, supported, engaged and successful.

SHADOW A STUDENT DAY AND BBQ CELEBRATION - FRIDAY, NOV. 20th

It’s Time For A Celebration

And You are Invited to the King Shadow A Student Day and API 842 BBQ!

Parents are cordially invited to a momentous event at King, combining our annual Shadow a Student Day with our API 842 BBQ celebration.  As promised last spring during a student pep rally to get ready for the California Standards Test (CST), we are organizing a BBQ, a live concert, and a special event to celebrate King jumping 37 points on the state API exams.

All students will enjoy a BBQ lunch provided by the King PTSO which will include a hamburger, chips, a drink, and a cookie at no cost. The King Associate Student Body will also provide a live “classic rock” concert in the MPR, culminating with a BMX show. All students will be given a colored wrist band on Nov. 20 in 4th period so that the event will run efficiently.

Purpose: To bring parents, students, and staff together to visit classrooms and to celebrate King Middle School’s 842 point Academic Performance Index score on the state end of the year exam.

When: Friday, November 20th, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

7:30 to 11:00 - Shadow a Student event (Parents visit classes)
11:00 to 1:45 - Students and families will rotate through the BBQ, a live Classic Rock Concert, culminating with a BMX show outside on the field .

Please open the attached file, fill it in, and return your RSVP with a check for parent lunches @ $5.00 per adult by Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Student Store.  Tickets for the BBQ will be $6.00 after the 18th.  The sooner....the better.

Sincerely,
Bob Rowe
Principal

Turkey Trot 2009 - Come support OUSD!

Turkey Trot Helps Raise Money for OUSD Schools

Turkey trot.jpg

What is fast becoming an annual tradition, the O’Side Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26. The community event is a way to promote health and fitness in youth, and to provide financial support to local schools.

All Turkey Trot runners can designate an OUSD school to receive a $5 donation for each entry fee. As the number of runners registered for the race increases, so does the financial potential for Oceanside schools.  One hundred runners can help earn $500 for one school site.

Medals will be awarded to each participant that finishes the race, while all runners 17 years of age and under will receive a “Move Your Feet Before You Eat” backpack. The race will include a costume contest, with runners encouraged to come dressed in outfits reflective of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

The Open 5K run/walk begins at 7 a.m., with the “locals only” 5K slated for 8:15 a.m. Children 12 years of age and under can take part in a 1 mile race starting at 9:30 a.m.

To register online, go to www.osideturkeytrot.com, or for more event information, please call 760-434-7706.

Empowering Parents.jpg

The Oceanside Unified School District is committed to doing everything within its power to provide all students the tools and resources necessary to find success in a global economy. As part of this mission, the district is sponsoring a series of Empowering Parents and College Bound workshops to help ensure every student graduates from high school with the option to attend college.

The workshops serve as building blocks to assist both parents and students to meet the educational needs of all OUSD students. Workshops will be held at El Camino High and Oceanside High and are open to ALL parents of K-12 OUSD students. Please look for a flyer your student will be bringing home in the next two weeks.

The first workshops will be held at the following locations:
